SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 2000--General Magic,
Inc.(TM) (Nasdaq:GMGC), a leading voice application service provider,
today announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding
with IBM to integrate General Magic's VoiceXML-based magicTalk
communications platform with IBM's DirectTalk and WebSphere Voice
Server with ViaVoice Technology to deliver and host end-to-end voice
solutions.

personality-rich, context-aware voice user interfaces and applications
along with IBM's software platform for voice enabling e-business will
create a unique opportunity to provide premier voice applications to
leading customer relationship management (CRM), Internet and

"IBM's open standards based scaleable voice platform, based on the
WebSphere e-business platform including WebSphere Voice Server and
DirectTalk, combined with General Magic's magicTalk communications

Under the proposed agreement, IBM and General Magic plan to
deliver and host end-to-end voice solutions for CRM, Internet and
telecommunications companies using a combination of the two companies'
voice technologies.
