Re: TDMA, GSM, CDMA --> Mobile Wireless Data (Compatible?)
John- Gee, the CDMA compatiblity issue to anything GSM related sounds complicated. Just trying understand what Jacbos is saying is complicated. Kind of scary to think how difficult it would be to get it to work in real life. But the gist of what you said appears to be correct. If you run across other links or articles of this nature, please post.
I found an upstream LMT post directed related to our current conversation. You may recall reading it too. Anyway here it is again(url below) as a refresher to what some, in the industry, believe about migration of TDMA/GSM to wireless data capabilities, and MORE important, compatibilities.
Again, IMVHO, it's that good old legacy type reasoning I like to come back to. GSM/TDMA with an established worldwide base of 270,913,780 voice customers, as opposed to 46,988,538 CDMA voice customers, is a significant advantage on which to leverage their view of how mobile wireless data networks will develop. -MikeM(From Florida)
