Let's see: $3.25/ $1.25/gal = 2.6 gal/hr

Now- $5.50/ $1.60 = 3.4 gal/hr

Still much better off now.
3.4 - 2.6/ 2.6 = 30% higher in '81.

And it was much worse than that in the mid 70's. How do you think GM and Ford sold all those POS vega's and pintos? hohoho
