Gus,
Now that was an interesting interview, and a bold prediction: the demise of tape. Do you believe this? I do think that a lot more backup will take place on disk (the cost has dropped so precipitously), but tape will still be used for longer term archiving. Even now, I hear of systems which are shadowed by other disks, then that backup system is backed up to tape, which leaves the primary system clear for working. That seems to me to be the model which will win. Plus tape will still be used for smaller systems and workgroups.

EDIT: Also, he said, "And within two years, one major server vendor (whom he declined to name) will abandon its storage business because of a lack of storage expertise." Who is he referring to, do you have any guesses?
