However, we better get back to Corel/Linux before we get yelled at for topic drift.

I guess that I'm my more all-emcompassing with my perspective of what, or isn't, on topic.

I think the MSFT/CORL rivalry is extremely germane in order that people understand that the best product does not always win out. With the exception of Excel, I don't know of any MSFT product that is considered superior to CORL's products. Certainly CorelDraw is superior to PowerPoint any day of the year. That is something that Canadian software programmers should be proud of, IMO.

As for Linux, what I perceive here is a new market opportunity that will not have ANY dominant player like "The Empire" where their Windows dominance naturally evolved into dominance in the Office Suite market.

Linux is a brand new frontier in computers, where the open source initiative creates an excitement and possibility that many companies will profit from.

While others focus on MC and upper management, I'm more focused on who will step in and buy CORL for their product line. An acquisition will surely be resolve the exodus of programmers from the company that would affect them long-term.

Btw, I don't have a lot at risk here, so a complete loss in CORL wouldn't break me. But I like "unterhunds mit Uberprodukts" that have mass appeal.

Regards,

Ron
