That is an amusing way of phrasing what is, I think, a too cynical thought. Are there preachers who take advantage? Yes. But there are others who are sincere, and subject to congregational boards that do not give them a large stipend. Even Billy Graham had his salary determined by an outside group that he had no control over. And not all of these churches force tithing, a lot still rely on the collection plate. But mainly, I think you underestimate the power of belief on all parties.......
