The New Century Globalnet Wireless Internet System for High Speed Internet Access sounds like the system that Sprint/MCI are deploying in Phoenix Arizona. Depending on pricing, it may be the best choice for some people. I think it requires the placement of an outside antenna that has to be in the line of sight to the sending antenna. Downlinks may be very fast, but uplinks are slower. The house has to be wired internally from the outside antenna. My guess is that many people will prefer the potential system that was planned for Speednet (the Softbank/Microsoft/Tokyo Electric Power group). Perhaps Speednet could also provide telephone service as well as Internet Service. Anyway, it will probably depend on regulatory questions and the frequency that is available. It will be interesting to see how this finally shapes up.
