SANTA CLARA, Calif. and SKOKIE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1997--3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) and U.S. Robotics (Nasdaq: USRX) today announced that the final proxy statement for their proposed merger was declared effective by the Securities Exchange Commission on Thursday, May 8, 1997 and has now been mailed to shareholders of both companies. The special meetings for both 3Com and U.S. Robotics stockholders are scheduled for June 11, 1997.
