PC Expo Booth No. 3952

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 1996--Iomega Corp. (NASDAQ:IOMG) today announced two new accessories for the Zip drive that will make personal high-capacity storage easier and more portable for mobile computer users.

The new Zip rechargeable power pack, Zip Unleashed!, will offer an easy and convenient way to take the external Zip drive anywhere. The new Zip card allows users of Intel-based mobile computers to enjoy the faster performance of the external SCSI Zip drive.
Iomega will be featuring both products at the PC Expo Conference in New York City, June 18-20, booth 3952.

Like all of Iomega's Zip drive accessories, these two new products are uniquely designed for portability, durability and ease-of-use to lighten the cumbersome load typically associated with serious mobile computing. The Zip drive eliminates the need to rely on numerous floppy disks because it offers 70 times more storage capacity with 100-megabyte Zip disks.

"Our customers told us they needed unlimited storage capacity between work and home, on the road, or wherever they go," said Andy Grolnick, Iomega's Zip product line manager. "Zip Unleashed!, the new rechargeable power pack, and the Zip card offer portable solutions which round out our complete family of Zip drive accessories."

The Zip Unleashed! rechargeable battery pack will power the Zip drive for up to three hours. It can also be plugged directly into a wall outlet for convenient, built-in charging. The wall prongs rotate a full 270 degrees, so the battery pack only uses one power outlet on a standard power strip.

Zip Unleashed! is lightweight and is about the size of a deck of cards (approximately 3-inches x 4-inches). It attaches easily and securely to the Zip drive, allowing the drive to be moved or placed in its vertical position during use. It is expected to be available in July at an estimated street price of $49.95 (U.S.).

The new Zip card is a type II PCMCIA-to-SCSI adapter the size of a credit card that easily connects to Intel-based notebook computers that have an available PCMCIA slot. With the Zip card, users can take advantage of the increased speed of SCSI Zip drives. The Zip card has a convenient flexible cable with a 25-pin connector for the Zip drive. It is available now at an estimated street price of $99.95.

The combination of the SCSI Zip drive, Zip card, and Zip Unleashed! battery pack offers personal value for laptop users at a low cost.

Iomega has shipped approximately 2 million Zip drives since its introduction last year, making it one of the industry's fastest-selling personal storage products. The Zip drive is available for an estimated street price of $199.95, with 100-megabyte Zip disks available for an estimated street price as low as $14.95 each.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 1996--Iomega Corporation (NASDAQ:IOMG) today announced that it continues to gain significant industry support from major PC and consumer electronics companies that plan to incorporate Zip drives in their systems. Today's additions to the growing list of supporters of Iomega's Zip products include Unisys and Bandai Digital Entertainment Corporation.

With support from early adopters of the Zip drive - Power Computing, Micron Electronics, the first Windows-based PC OEM to adopt all of Iomega's products, Hewlett-Packard Company, Acer Corporation, Packard Bell Electronics, IBM, and NEC Technologies - Iomega's industry partnerships now span the consumer electronics and personal computer retail and commercial markets around the world.

"Broad industry support of the Zip drive is a sign of the times," said Kim B. Edwards, Iomega president and CEO. "Consumers aren't concerned with just text files. They're storing images, audio, PC games, graphics and stuff from the Internet, and they need a personal storage solution that can handle these demands. Major PC, consumer electronics and media companies have now responded in full force, identifying Zip as an industry pacesetter."

Industry analysts also are quick to recognize the trend.

"With its announcement today of broad industry support, Iomega has made significant strides in gaining the leadership position in removable storage," said Phil Devin, vice president and chief analyst, storage technologies for Dataquest. "Coupled with its success at retail, Zip is now a stronger candidate to be the potential replacement for the floppy."

In addition to being included in a range of PC OEM systems, Zip is being supported by several of the world's leading drive and media manufacturers, including TDK, Fuji, Sony, Maxell and Seiko Epson.

Since Iomega began shipping in March 1995, Iomega's Zip drive has become one of the hottest selling products at retail, with more than two million Zip drives shipped in a little more than one year. The popular drive provides more than 70 times the capacity of today's floppy disks, giving consumers unlimited capacity, increased flexibility, and a built-in back-up system.

PC Expo, New York, Booth No. 3952

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 1996--Iomega Corp. (NASDAQ:IOMG) today announced a new internal version of its popular Zip drive for laptop computers in a slimmer, lighter design.

Iomega expects the new mobile Zip drive to be available to manufacturers in the first quarter of 1997.

Compatible with all Zip disks, the new drive offers the same performance and ease-of-use in a sleek, new design that is ideal for laptop computers and rounds out the Zip family of products.

Iomega will be featuring a working prototype of the drive at the PC Expo Conference in New York, June 18-20, Booth No. 3952.

The new drive allows for true mobility, enabling users to conveniently take all their files anywhere they carry their laptop computers -- between home and work, on the road to remote locations, or to give multimedia presentations at customer sites -- without any
limits on storage capacity.

"Laptop computers have become the tool of choice for making presentations in the field and to remote customer sites," said Andy Seybold, a mobile industry analyst. "It is not surprising that multimedia applications with full sound and video have dramatically increased capacity needs far beyond the standard floppy drive. The new Zip drive standard is both welcome and necessary."

The most recent forecasts from Dataquest, a market research firm in San Jose, Calif., indicate that the total worldwide shipments of mobile PCs will reach 12.6 million by the end of 1996. To address this market opportunity, Iomega launched a major effort to redesign the Zip drive specifically for the requirements of laptop computers.

"Since we introduced the Zip drive last year, it has taken the retail market by storm, received endorsements from leading makers of desktop computers and consumer electronic products, and won numerous industry awards," said Timothy L. Hill, vice president of worldwide marketing at Iomega.

"We believe providing the Zip drive to the laptop computing industry is one of the next critical steps in establishing it as the new standard for a variety of industries and applications that require fast and convenient removable storage."

All Zip drives ship with Iomega's easy-to-use Zip tools file management software. Additional 100-megabyte Zip disks are available for an estimated street price as low as $14.95 each.
