hi russett "worked my 300 P2 hard for 2 years and never defraged... defrag thing comes back and tells me I have less than 5% defragmentation... guess I'm off to do some snort'in with Norton" hmmmm. let me go out on a limb here and say that you need to defrag. let me also say that the '5' you are seeing is the percentage of files that are not fragmented. if that is the case (it's that way with norton speed disk), you, my friend, may have set a new modern day world record for disk fragmentation. <g3> and it only makes sense with two years of heavy use that you would have this level of fragmentation. your post begins by referencing the microsoft disk defragmenter, but then you say you're going to use norton. just out of curiosity, do you have norton installed? are you planning on getting it? i'm guessing that you don't have it or you wouldn't be going near the windows defrag tool. otoh, if you already have norton utilities but don't know how to run the components, let us know and i'm sure we can assist. keep us posted :) mark
