NTT DoCoMo, Hutchison, to Take 15% of Canada's TIW, Jiji Says

Tokyo, June 23 (Bloomberg) -- NTT DoCoMo Inc., Japan's No. 1 mobile phone operator, said it and Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. plan to buy a combined 15 percent stake in Canadian telecommunications company Telesystem International Wireless Inc. for about 200 billion yen ($1.9 billion), Jiji Press reported. TIW, which recently obtained a license to provide mobile phone services in the U.K., is seeking partners to finance the company's capital investment, Jiji said.

Telesystem International Wireless, based in Montreal, yesterday closed trading in Toronto at C$25.90, down 0.90.
