There's lots of company's that no longer have a control block. I believe the definition of control block is 20% of the stock. The definition of an insider is broader.

Without a control block some do alright and some lousy. It's more important to know what drives the management than anything else. And, in a lot of cases, I believe that control blocks exist and are not disclosed.

As a company goes through life it's nice to see management write a check for part of the financing, however.
