Finisar Corporation is a leading provider of fiber optic subsystems and network performance test systems that enable high-speed data communications over Gigabit Ethernet-based local area networks, or LANs, and Fibre Channel-based storage area networks, or SANs. Its optical subsystems convert electrical signals into optical signals for reliable, high-speed data transmission over varying distances, speeds and transmission mediums. The Company sells its optical subsystems to manufacturers of networking and storage equipment that develop and market systems based on Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel, which are advanced transmission protocols used in high-speed LAN and SAN applications. The Company also provides unique network performance test systems which assist networking and storage equipment manufacturers in the efficient design of reliable, high-speed networking systems and the testing
and monitoring of the performance of these systems.

I feel as though the company has not rebounded from its lows as others in the sector have. . . sitting just 5 off its 52-week lows. Also, Gigabit Ethernet is an important technological area. . .and Finisar is a leader in this area.
