lml- I agree with everything you wrote. And as far as added revenue streams for MSOs, that's where I'm spending a lot of time currently. It's not easy figuring out all that back office stuff.

Back to the telco vs cableco. I see the cablecos on top of the convergence battle because IMHO, it's much easier for a cableco to do circuit-switched voice(which is here and now and rolling out today), on top of their TV and data services. BUT how in the world is a telco going to be able to do TV? It's just not easy at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the MMDS....no. That doesn't make sense for the owners of the twisted pair.

Anyway, I'm certain it's easier to migrate a cableco to voice than it will be for a telco to migrate to TV. Once either SP is able to accomplish this, then it's looking like a package worth at least $100/month per subscriber. More like $150/month for most. That's a LOT of money when considered as a voice/video/data package. Toss in LD and then you may be looking at a $175/month payment to someone in ATT's position. -MikeM(From Florida)
