Infogrames 'Puzzled' by Eidos Chatter

Industry: Infogrames has admitted that it's
interested in scooping up-for-sale Eidos; but
says it isn't one of the mystery companies that's
been "in talks" with the British publisher.

Earlier this week Eidos announced that it is involved
in talks that could lead to a buy-out of the company.
Speculation immediately began that one of the
un-named companies around the table was
Infogrames. But CEO Bruno Bonnell says there
hasn't been a conversation ? yet.

He told respected U.K. trade paper MCV, "We have
many targets and Eidos is one of them, but I am
puzzled by this news because we didn't know they
were in serious conversation with someone." He
added, "Weûll talk with them if they would like us to,
but nothing is happening right now."

Infogrames is rated at four times the value of Eidos.
Bonnell will be seeking to bring Eidos' valuable Lara
Croft franchise in-house, as well as Eidos impressive
roster of development affiliates and relationships.

Rumor has it that Microsoft and Havas are also in the
frame; but the chances of a mystery
outside-the-industry bidder should not be ruled out.

Thanks to MCV U.K.
