TB, Perhaps you do not know the restrictions the Governor of Texas is under. According to the constitution of the State of Texas, the Governor, no matter who that individual may be, cannot grant a pardon to anyone for any reason. The trial, in question, did not happen on Bush's watch. The only stay of execution allowed in Texas had already been granted by, then Governor, Ann Richards. Graham had 33 appeals, two hearings by the US Supreme Court, and had many other motions made on his behalf, but was confirmed guilty. Since Texas does not have a sentencing option of parole without possibility of parole, the death sentence was the only way to keep this hardened criminal of the streets. In a seven day period, he wounded 22 people, one being a 57 year old woman, who he also raped, and thought he had successfully killed others, because he told one victim that he had killed before and more would not matter, as he severed the man's leg with a blast from a double barreled, sawed off, shotgun. If your heart bleeds for this man, your sensitivities are way off base when it comes to the judicial system. ~H~ |
