The Schwab Global brokers are telling Schwab clients that the new split shares of Softbank may not be available to trade until July. Apparently there are several middle men in the chain that will deliver the new shares to the final client.

There seems to be an expectation that the new shares will produce a wave of selling, but this is only a factor here in the American market. It may be a pretty small factor at that. American trading is miniscule compared to Japanese trading volume. The Japanese have been able to trade the split shares for some time already so I see the issuance of the split shares to American investors to be a very minor factor. We might see a short term minor dip in the price of Softbank here in the US relative to the price in Japan.
