Neenny,

As was previously mentioned on the Prayer thread, Finch College itself no longer exists. However, there is a Finch College Alumni Association, of which Edwarda was a board member (not sure if that board seat was current or in the past, but my impression is that it was current).

Additionally, there is a theatre group where she also was on the board. My impression here is that many of the same faces are in both groups.

If we were to go the scholarship route, I have no idea of how the funds would be administered or to which existing college/university the funds might go. Because Finch College itself is no longer in existence, we sort of lose control over any disbursements to actual students.

I am not certain if Edwarda was religiously active in the Catholic church or not, but a one-time memorial often used within the church would be to purchase a religious icon or perhaps a stained-glass window, and donate it in Edwarda's name, with an appropriate plaque that indicates such.

Neocon is working on the theatre group and will need some time to gather details.

The only comment I would have on the hunger site is to request that someone check it out through the charitable organizations sites to make sure that it is legitimate, and not one of these Internet scams where less than 1% of any monies collected actually reaches the intended recipients.

I think that a one-time memorial is better than a recurring one, because as time marches on, there will be fewer and fewer of us left that will remember Edwarda and why she was so important to us. And then again, there will likely be other people in the future that are also important to us that pass on, and we might want to honor them similarly. Just off the top of my head, I can think of two or three people that already come close to that category.

These are just my thoughts. Others are free to agree or disagree as they see fit. I'll participate in whatever we decide upon as a group.
