The only comment I would have on the hunger site is to request that someone check it
out through the charitable organizations sites to make sure that it is legitimate, and not
one of these Internet scams where less than 1% of any monies collected actually
reaches the intended recipients.

When it first came to my attention, I checked it out quite carefully. (I'm a lawyer who works in the nonprofit field, so I have some experience with NP scams.) My investigation included exchanges of emails with the UN office which was stated to be the beneficiary. (Didn't get the email address from the Hunger Site, got it directly from the UN web site.) It checked out perfectly. They really were getting the money, and were very enthusiastic. Also checked several of the advertisers, they were legit and found the web site legit. Also, several very reputable newspapers or magazines have checked it out. I feel quite confident that this is a legit charitable service. (There are some other donation sites on the web that are NOT, naming no names.) The site was taken over by Greater Good about a year ago, and I haven't formally checked since then, but I see no reason to think things have changed. If people are truly concerned about its legitimacy, I could try to dig up the old email addresses I used and check up again, but I personally am satisfied with it.
