Looks like a political discussion has broken out on the IWA thread again. Makes sense, because mining in Canada has more to do with politics, greedy politicians, and greedy lobbyists and interest groups than actually finding something in the ground.
I think we are all right. And Lizzy, realize that Canadian politicians and regulators feel a need to get in and muddy the waters all the time, especially if they can line their pockets at the same time. Also our bank and brokerage institutions are set up so there is very little competition, and they talk to each other about policy and procedure all the time in government sanctioned common interest groups,...something that anti-competitive legislators and regulators in the U.S. would frown on. Lack of competition allows our politicians to put their money in blind trusts to look good to our citizens,...of course they specify to the trust keepers that they only invest in banks, brokerages, insurance companies and the like,...and then the chits only pass legislation that favors these near monopolistic institutions unless someone wakes up the sleepy Canadian public, and/or public opinion poles tell the politicos they better not do that because it's too much for the public to swallow. Doesn't mean they won't try again later though.
If you are a company without links to this den of greedy thieves, you will get your arse kicked in, unless you provide all the proper bribes and arse kissing.
The biggest thieves in Canada don't carry guns or perform break-ins and hold-ups. They wear three piece suits, and say they work for the public :-((((((
