and a court of law bamboozled into this nonsense...

The courts have had nothing to say about this. The only data we have from the courts is that none of the other DRAM competitors wanted to join Hitachi in the suit, and that the ITC planned for about a year to examine this (June 2001).

Hitachi decided on it's own to settle (with Toshiba's help).
