Rights do not devolve from "the creator" but from the very fact of the sacredness of human life itself, in essence, the fact that it exists.

Some architects of the foundation of the USA were christian, others jews, others deists, some agnostics or atheists. "God" was put in there to appease the churches which had a strong political base at the time, although they were wisely excluded from direct participation in matters of the State for the future.
