Mark,

I just downloaded Norton Utilities from the site previously posted. (By Gottfried)

While loading, it reported I had two .dll read only files and asked if I wanted to overwrite them. Not knowing for sure what to do, I said "Yes".

After loading the upgrades, etc., it reported I had 92 errors/mistakes on my C:Drive. I elected the Fix all button and NU reported it had fixed 90 of them. I suspect my previous choice to overwrite the .dll files was the reason all of them were not fixed. The strange thing though, was the box that said "Files not fixed" was 0.

Now, as for the comparison to the WIN98 defrag tool, I defrag fairly frequently (when I think about it) The W98 defrag tool usually reports that I am 1,2, or 3% fragmented.
I always defrag anyway.

The Norton tool announced that I was 84% fragmented. seems to me to be a dramatic difference.

I haven't been using it long enough to be able to report on 'puter performance, so I'll get back to you on that.

Later.

Have fun,
Phil
