Ok, you got my interest....
I looked at the website...and...I think I got the gist of it...
Correct me if I am wrong...
Let's say I wanted one of these to run an 8 plex...
And let's say the KWH demand is an average of about 4000 KWH per month....
And let's say I wanted to run the SOLAR only model...
Also, from the Map...it looks like I am in the BLUE zone...
Does this mean, that a unit would cost me about $100,000 to have installed, that would be totally self sustaining?
It quoted , I believe, a cost per KWH of about 10 cents to 15 cents.....
At the moment, I pay about 13 cents for the first 500 KWH, and about 8 cents for everything up to 5000 KWH...and then it drops to about 5 cents...
...The solar still is more expensive...now...but...do you forsee a model that might cost, say $2000 down the road?
I say this, because I remember when the Compact Disk first came out..
Back then for $10,000 you could by a unit that could record onto CD....
Now, $200
Or Colour Photocopiers...$10,000 Now as cheap as a $100 canan bubble jet..and the model that went for $10,000 (a joke by today's standards) sells for about $700
Infact I remember DELL had a 386 Laptop with Docking station, I think it was an NEC on the inside...it went for $14,000 Canadian..)
So...
Cheap power...from the sun? When...
I want some...because I sure hate Ontario Hydro (electric company..) |
