I do this in craps sometimes too: let's say the point is 8 and I've bought the 10 as well, but 9 keeps hitting again and again. I've been known to put a few bucks on the damn 9 at that point just to stop getting annoyed. If it keeps hitting, fine; if not, it'll push the dice to my 8 or 10...

Just a few thoughts come to mind on this one:

1. I like craps too; but playing Rambus ain't akin to craps.

2. You're widely admired as a "words" guy; by reverse logic, you ain't no "numbers" guy, as supported by your anti-logic above. When the nine hits, the chance that it will hit again is always 4 chances in 36. If the 9 hits 4 more times, the next likelihood is still 4/36. Putting money on the 9 doesn't do jack for pushing the next roll to 8 or 10, except in your cloudy thinking head.

3. I look forward to getting together with youse people someday, and playing a friendly game of poker.
