Network Appliance Expands Hardware and Service Parts Distribution Efficiency With UPS Logistics Group SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 2000--Network Appliance, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP - news), a leading provider of network-attached data access and content management solutions, today announced a service parts agreement with UPS Logistics Group, a leading global provider of logistics solutions. As a result of this agreement, Network Appliance will be able to offer its customers added service level agreement flexibility, faster delivery of hardware and replacement parts, a single point of contact for all service parts-related issues, and consistent delivery of all these services globally.
``By selecting UPS Logistics Group we are empowered to focus on our own core competencies,'' said Dave McCroskey, director of business operations at Network Appliance. ``While certainly beneficial to both UPS Logistics Group and Network Appliance, the most significant benefits of this relationship will accrue to our customers who can now always be assured of getting the hardware and parts they need, when they need them.''
Under terms of the five-year renewable contract, UPS Logistics Group will handle all delivery of hardware and service parts, warehousing fulfillment and management, reverse logistics, and returns management for NetApp© systems, as well as logistics planning. All logistics services are being rolled out initially in North America, and will be expanded into Europe and Asia later this year.
At the heart of the new distribution model, are strategically located field support banks. These UPS Logistics Group facilities allow quick delivery of replacement parts to Network Appliance customers and field technicians. Because of this proximity to customers, Network Appliance is now able to tailor service level agreements to meet customer requirements, offering guaranteed delivery of spare parts in two hours, four hours, or next-day. Network Appliance clients can also purchase onsite technical services independently of parts delivery agreements, to add even greater flexibility and cost-effectiveness for customers.
``Through programs we have created specifically for Network Appliance, we will provide seamless services that enable customers to receive critical parts faster and more efficiently around the world'' said Dan DiMaggio, UPS Logistics Group CEO. ``We are pleased to be selected as Network Appliance's global service parts logistics provider and are committed to supporting their future growth. Ultimately, our services enable Network Appliance to offer cutting edge support solutions, resulting in higher levels of customer satisfaction and stronger relationships.''
