Sun will certify other brands of equipment, but the switches they will OEM will be Ancor. The analogy they have used in public settings since their 6/14/00 announcement is tires on a car. They are setting up their systems and tuning their suspensions for Goodyear Eagle F1 GS tires. Other tires will fit on the rims but the performance will not be optimized for those tires.

I wonder if there is any kind of official press release or statement from Sun's management team you could point me to that would illustrate the scenario you describe above?
