res- You still fall back on your basic contention that killing a few innocents is okay, as long as we kill all the guilty.

So do you. I simply recognize my position while you live in a fantasy world of make believe 100% certainty. Nothing involving the decisions of humans can be 100% accurate when a judgement has to be made. The drugs you believe so completely in will undoubtedly prove fallible for one individual. Especially when you consider wide spread use will lead to an anecdote.

It's one thing to take the position the death penalty is wrong for moral reasons and disovow it completely. But your position lacks clarity of logic since you would allow innocent victims killed until such time as a drug is adopted (which could be never). Dismissing the victims of murderers who have been paroled and focusing only on the potential injustices is to miss an important element in the equation. Recognizing current reality as it exists, (not as you wish it should be) means your plan of no death penalty will result in more innocent victims being killed.

The same thing is true of your position with regard to opting completely out of the political system. Logic dictates we didn't get to where we are all at once, so a gradual rollback from the "great society" model is the best we can hope for.

Sitting on the side lines while others elect Al Gore and a liberal congress will only ensure the roll-back takes longer (if ever). Therefore, the logical thing to do is elect someone who moves us along the path we want to be on. George Bush and a Republican congress will undoubtedly get us closer to your utopian Ayn Rand model then Al Gore and a liberal congress. However, opting completely out of the system is a defeatest attitude which can only give more strength to others who's ideas may run completely opposite your own.

Libertarians and Randians should join conservatives and move the Republican party toward "freedom from government". Cynically standing on the sidelines criticizing everyone is a meaningless endeavor. And one not worthy of your talent.
