Ahh.. Richard, the truth comes out at last.

You believe you are brighter and wiser than the very man who handled Saudi/OPEC policy making during the Arab oil embargo during the '70's.

At last, you have shown us your hubris knows no bounds.

That is one definite difference between you and I. I will seriously take the words of such experienced men under advisement in trying to discern future trends. Especially when such formerly powerful men have little to gain from making such extreme statements.

Btw, why should someone become a turbine mechanic when they can hire all the expertise they require... In fact, when they can buy an entire 747 for commuting between mansions?

Furthermore, you should know (if you did a little research) that airlines use Jet A class distillate fuel (similar to kerosene). It is not exactly something you can put in your car and being a longer chain hydrocarbon molecule, generally makes up a larger "cut" during the refining process. Usually higher heat and pressure is required to create the lighter density aromatics and short chain molecules from which gasoline is derived.

Finally, have you heard of gas to liquids technology? While the Americas possess large quantities of natural gas desposits, the technology had yet to become profitable enough to justify the capital expenses necessary.

That is... until now.

Most interesting oil companies right now, IMO, are Texaco and Conoco due to their emphasis on researching alternative fuels.
