An individual killing another individual is a risk in a free society, even in a Statist society, for that matter. But institutionalized killing of innocent people can be stopped. It is a matter of State policy, not on a one-to-one basis.
As for the "make-or-break" election fallacy, the same was said of many other elections. Many of those Republicans won... and, where are we?
In fact, since Harry Truman we have had:
Eisenhower (8 yrs.) Republican Kennedy-LBJ (8 yrs.) Democrat Nixon-Ford (8 yrs.) Republican Carter (4 yrs.) Democrat Reagan (8 yrs.) Republican Bush (4 yrs.) Republican Clinton (8 yrs.) Democrat
So, that tallies up to:
28 years for Republicans, 20 years for Democrats.
The Republicans have had 8 more years than their Democratic counterparts, yet they have not been able to turn anything around. We still have all the major social programs we've been saddled with for years. Ironically, welfare programs were dramatically scaled back under Clinton.
I therefore propose that whomever wins, they are not what this nation needs to get us back on the trail to freedom. Our last, great hope was Ronald Reagan. He failed -- except for the glorious achievement of bringing the Soviet Union to its knees, which led to its demise. For that, statues should be raised in Reagan's honor in every major city in America. |
