Right Elmer, you're long, and yet every post you make is an attempt to drive down AMD's stock price.

The oldest trick in the book is claiming you're long to enhance the credibility of negative posts.

As for the SETI results: it appears that the relevant data for that algorithm fits in a 1 meg L2 cache (hence the high Xeon performance), but not in a 256K L2 cache (so P3 and Athlon sit further back). Comparing P3 and Athlon performance, where the FSB is at the same speed, the performance is essentially identical per MHz. Since we know the Athlon FPU crushes the P3 FPU, I'm guessing the SETI code is probably heavily biased towards integer arithmetic (discrete FFTs and the like).

Hey, did you or Paul hear if anyone at Intel found a 1-GHz part this weekend or not?
