FINLAND, June 26, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nokia, a founding member of the SyncML initiative, announced today it
has successfully demonstrated the world's first wireless Internet synchronization using the SyncML protocol. The
demonstration was given at the first SyncML Supporter Summit last Friday in Los Angeles, California.

SyncML is an industry specification that will enable seamless synchronization of data between mobile and fixed devices
across a wide range of operating platforms and transport protocols. SyncML as a common protocol for data
synchronization will accelerate the growth and adoption of wireless devices for use across a variety of business and
consumer applications.

``SyncML is one of the enablers of Nokia's vision of the Mobile Information Society. This demonstration puts Nokia on
the leading edge to making the vision come true,'' says Janne Jormalainen, Digital Convergence Unit Vice President at
Nokia Mobile Phones. ``The demonstration proves that SyncML has potential to rapidly emerge as the de-facto
standard for wireless and wireline synchronization.''

Nokia demonstrated the world's first wireless Internet synchronization using SyncML over the hypertext transport
protocol (HTTP), used widely for Internet communication. In addition to the demonstrations from Nokia and other
SyncML founding members, the SyncML Supporter Summit gave the over 100 delegates from leading companies in the
wireless and information technology industries an opportunity to attend the hands-on presentations and discussions
focused on SyncML's progressive development work, and to consolidate relationships within the industry.

Since the announcement of its formation in February 2000, over 250 companies have announced their support for
SyncML. The goal of the SyncML initiative is to develop a universal synchronization standard for the mobile computing
industry. Supporters of the initiative now include leading device manufacturers, service prodiders, and application
providers. A complete list of SyncML Supporters can be found on the SyncML Web site, www.syncml.org.
