My wife thinks the f stop can be adjusted on the new Nikon 990. She bought a Nikon a few months ago and doesn't think she can adjust the f stop. But she still gets good pictures. She takes a lot of pictures of flowers and they come out pretty good. It took her a long time to get comfortable using it, there are still some glitches with the technology.
