Hitachi and Rambus end patent infringement dispute Story Filed: Monday, June 26, 2000 12:41 PM EST JUN 26, 2000, M2 Communications - Japan's Hitachi Ltd and California-based Rambus Inc have settled their legal dispute which began when Rambus filed patent infringement claims against Hitachi and Hitachi Semiconductor (America) Inc in a US district court. Rambus had also initiated an investigation of Hitachi, Hitachi Semiconductor (America), Sega Enterprises Ltd and Sega of America Inc in the US International Trade Commission. Hitachi had denied the claims and had asserted counterclaims against Rambus. Under the agreement all pending litigation will be terminated and Rambus has granted Hitachi a worldwide license for certain Rambus patents and patent applications for synchronous dynamic random access memory devices and for controllers interfacing with those memory devices.
