"I was told that an HDTV signal consumes about 3 channels of bandwidth, not 5."

lml- What I read was a single HDTV channel takes the place of 4 or 5 DTV channels.

Conincidently, 1 analog channel can be replaced with 4 or 5 DTV channels. So if an MSO went to an all digital system(which won't happen for awhile), then the MSO would be able to offer 4 or 5 times the channels being broadcast via analog today. So what's that? About 500 useless content channels!<g>

So the bottom line is, IF MSOs converted to a fully HDTV network(which won't happen for a LONG time), then going to digital would have no benefit to today's analog MSOs(in terms of increasing channel count to their customer). Kind of a funny coincidence. -MikeM(From Florida)
