Citrix's thin client server allows institutions to maximize capacity with out expanding hardware and storage capabilities. It postpones additional expenditures. What does this buy you? Well, it is an expensive solution, but cheaper than expansion alternatives. The long term answer is web based applications and they are growing every day. As more institutions mandate and pay for web based applications it severely reduces the demand for storage and system expansion to accommodate these memory hog programs.

So lets say a year from now web based applications double then the need for Citrix products will be negatively impacted as firms off load memory and storage requirements. Some feel Citrix is holding them hostage and want alternatives and will exercise them the first chance they get.

ps I used to resell Citrix when my client server product could not be accommodated with the existing system. Often I would have to lower my price to fit Citrix in. Web based applications have eliminated our need for Citrix and we were not the only one.
