I have seen no 64-bit advertisement for Microsoft Office, Corel's office suite etc., and in fact, not even an announcement. People really don't care. It's the same with our customers, they don't ask for 64-bit.

Have you considered the fact that Intel isn't targeting IA-64 for the desktop? IA-64 is all about the back-end of the network - massive databases, transaction processing, etc.

Like most technologies, processors are tools. Designers try to choose the best tool for the job. IA-64 is the wrong tool for the desktop in the forseeable future.
