To Increase Efficiency At Military Base Commissaries
ATLANTA, GA, and MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 26 /CNW/ - NCR Corporation (NYSE:

Teklogix Inc. (TSE: TKX), a global provider of real-time data collection and
communication solutions, today announced they have partnered to extend the
functionality of the U.S. Defense Commissary Agency's (DeCA) state-of-the-art
wireless point-of-sale (POS) system.
The new contract is an extension of an existing contract originally
awarded to NCR in 1996. Under the original terms, NCR built an integrated POS
solution including NCR 7450 and 7452 retail terminals, Advanced
Store(at)Advanced Checkout Solution software, MEI store applications and a
WaveLAN wireless communication infrastructure for approximately 300 Defense
Commissary Agency locations around the world.
Under the terms of the expanded contract, NCR will upgrade the WaveLAN
wireless communications infrastructure with IEEE 802.11 compliant (WaveLAN II)
radio technology, and provide new wireless POS devices and network backbone in
the commissary stores. Teklogix will provide standard new wireless hand-held
devices for use in store inventory, tracking, and integration with other
enterprise applications.
As the prime contractor, NCR chose to work with Teklogix based on its
experience within the wireless hand-held data collection business sector and
the interoperability of its products with NCR's network interfaces and WaveLAN
II wireless infrastructure.

Teklogix will supply the company's 7035 wireless, hand-held computers
with integrated scanners for use on the NCR WaveLAN 802.11 backbone. Teklogix
will also assist NCR and DeCA with the migration of existing software
applications to the new standard hand-held devices.
