I can only speak of one DRAM company that I know has only ordered upgrades for existing fabs and has not yet picked the site or ordered the equipment for a new Fab most likely a 300mm one. That decision will happen soon, and then they will order the equipment so it will arrive in 12-15months.
I think there are more companies in this situation so my answer is yes it is possible to spend more for equipment and it will cost more for 300 than 200mm.
I do like Micron stock, not that I can predict what it will do next but having some leaps helps with the short term dips.
You would think if DRAM contract pricing is for sure going up on July 1 then Micron stock should eventually reflect the increase.
On another note, I am wondering that once the Intel selling of Mu stock shares is done, and TI selling is done, will Micron price take off? Seems like Intel is about done, but TI has a ways to go to get rid of all its MU shares.
Good trading.
