INRAD Awarded Crystal Supply Contract From Sanders
NORTHVALE, N.J., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- INRAD, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: INRD - news) announced today that it has been awarded a production contract for 400 ultra violet (UV) waveband filter elements for the AN/AAR-47 Missile Warning System from Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Company, based in Nashua, NH. Sanders is prime contractor for manufacture of the system. The dollar value of the contract was not disclosed.
Ultra-violet filters are specialty optical elements made from high purity and high uniformity single-crystals of materials that absorb all wavelengths except those in the UV region of the electro-magnetic spectrum. These filters are a key optical component of airborne electro-optical missile warning systems. INRAD has been in continuous production of these components for many years.
Dan Lehrfeld, President and CEO of INRAD, commented, ``We are pleased to have been selected by Sanders once again as the supplier of these key optical components. INRAD has been on the AN/AAR-47 program for many years. In the defense electronics industry, missile warning systems have a high funding priority in the DOD and in Congress for development, production, and deployment. We believe demand will increase steadily over the next few years as more systems enter production. We have expanded our UV filter material product line and related production capacity so that INRAD will continue to be the supplier of choice for these strategic components.''
