Nokia Plans Second Venture Fund for Wireless Startups, WSJ Says

--From AOL.-- Cooters

Espoo, Finland, June 27 (Bloomberg) -- Nokia Oyj is planning to form a second venture fund to buy minority stakes in wireless startups, the Wall Street Journal reported. President Pekka Ala- Pietila said the new fund likely will be at least as large as the company's existing $150 million Nokia Ventures fund, formed in 1998. Unlike Nokia Ventures, the new fund may include money from outside backers, the paper said.

Earlier this month, Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, said it signed an agreement with Korea's Telson Electronics Co. to jointly develop and manufacture code division multiple access (CDMA) products in the world's largest market for the technology.
