<< Even Microsoft's need
to comment on the USRX/TI product announcement puzzles me. They certainly
don't stand to gain if USR gets a foothold in the DSL retail market.>>

This is PR/marketing strategy at it's finest. Microsoft's comments were
harmless...yet USRX knows the value of having Microsft on your
Product Announcement. The annoucement is intended to freeze
competitive effects on USRX products and distribution channels.

For example, IBM Golbal Network signed with X2 recently. USRX is
probably givving away the "OLD 56k product line" to lock-out ADSL
compeititors. I'm sure these are marching orders. Even though today's
56k modems ARE NOT software upgradeable... they will make up for it
when ADSL Lite is available.

A year is a LONG time and alot can happen. The real question is can
Aware lisc. ANSI compliant DMT code without paying Amati??????
