Unique Broadband Systems Ships Terrestrial Repeater Prototypes
To Hughes Network Systems

Advanced interference-free PROPRIETARY COFDM-based technology targets
emerging digital radio market

Concord, ON -- June 27, 2000 - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS),
recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture
of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has successfully
shipped and installed eight prototypes of its terrestrial repeater network
equipment for Hughes Network Systems' Subscriber Products Division ("HNS").
The terrestrial repeaters, which comprise UBS' proprietary COFDM technology,
are geared for use in the emerging digital radio market.

The two companies signed a contract in February for the design, development
and manufacture of terrestrial repeater equipment. Under the terms of the
contract, UBS will supply sub-assemblies to HNS, which then uses them, in
combination with HNS manufactured sub-assemblies, to manufacture terrestrial
repeaters. The completed systems will be shipped to HNS' customer in the
digital radio market.

UBS terrestrial repeaters use COFDM technology, a superior modulation
technique for the delivery of high-speed broadband services, such as audio,
video and data. The modulation technique allows a moving vehicle to receive
quality service, such as digital radio, at speeds in excess of 100 km/hour.

"Our partnership with HNS affords UBS the opportunity to work with an
industry leader," said Alex Dolgonos, president and CEO of UBS. "Digital
radio is an exciting emerging market segment, and we are committed to
establishing a leadership role."

James Gandolfi, Vice-President of HNS, said: "UBS has clearly demonstrated
that it has the technical expertise and the technology needed in the digital
radio market. Together we are introducing the technology to the market and
are confident of its success going forward."
