Network Commerce Signs $8 Million in Licensing Deals for Online Customer Acquisition Engine SpeedyClick Division Turning 'Sticky Engine' Technology Into Winning Formula For Web Sites
SEATTLE, Jun 27, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Network Commerce Inc. (Nasdaq: NWKC), a leading provider of technology infrastructure, services and networks for businesses, merchants, Internet sites, and wireless networks conducting commerce online, today announced agreements with PrizeCrazy and HobbyRat to license the company's online customer acquisition engine. The agreements will generate over $8 million over the next two years.
The Network Commerce online customer acquisition engine technology was developed by SpeedyClick.com, a division of Network Commerce and a member of the Network Commerce Consumer Network. The customized technology package includes three major components -- a registration engine, an e-currency and redemption engine, and an entertainment platform. The company's first customer acquisition engine client, PlanetofMusic.com, has vaulted to the #1 music site -- ahead of mtv.com and mp3.com -- in the three months since its launch, according to PC Data Online. The site had over 2 million visits for the week ending June 24, 2000, and is averaging over 130,000 registrations per month.
"We've taken the formula that has made SpeedyClick so successful and are packaging the technology and services for other sites," said Dwayne Walker, chairman and chief executive officer of Network Commerce. "Our online customer acquisition engine provides a creative and effective tool for obtaining first-time visitors and generating repeat traffic."
The technology has made SpeedyClick.com itself (http://www.speedyclick.com) the #1 Amusement site, the #1 Games site, the #1 Online Gaming site, the #3 Auctions site, and the #17 overall Web site for the week ending June 24, according to PC Data Online. The site experienced over 6.8 million unique users the same week. By comparison, the site had 3 million visitors during October 1999.
