Re NewsMax: William Randolph Hearst would be so PROUD.

From MSNBC article:

Elian's Miami kin take 'best shot'
Supreme Court is asked to keep boy in country for now

>..According to the Miami relatives' lawyers, Juan Miguel Gonzalez sent the family a letter stating that he would allow them to visit Elian if they dropped their lawsuit in the case.

>"As much as it breaks their heart not to see Elian, they cannot withdraw the lawsuit because of the importance of this case and the importance of Elian's bright future if he were allowed to stay here," said a lawyer for the family on Monday.

>Gutierrez, the relatives' spokesman, showed reporters a copy of the handwritten letter and called it "a little bit of blackmail."

Maybe it's payback for the Miami relatives saying to Juan Miguel that he couldn't have his son back unless he came to Miami, etc.
