Joe you have uncovered probably the best possible manufacturing of Micro semiconductors. The problems have always come to the masks, the "direct write laser" process eliminates the need for the mask.

DARPA:
Consistent with these goals the DARPA Advanced Lithography program will. Initiate a
program to investigate electronics manufacturing technologies for the pattern transfer of
highly-complex patterns at sub 0.10 micron resolution over field areas in excess of
1000 sq. mm. In recognition of the exponentially increasing difficulty of mask write,
inspect, and repair technologies, MASKLESS technologies with plausible
manufacturing speeds are of particular interest.

Recently there appeared an article in Electronic News(yesterdays) it is worth reading. In addition the URL given by Joe is California ASIC which a subsiderary of Jmar Industries. Come on over and check us out(we=jmar investors). It is interesting that you made the correlation between IBM and Cal ASIC(ala Jmar).
