EleTel Incorporated (CDN "LETL.U") announced today a strategic partnership with NetNumber.com, Inc. (NetNumber(R)) to provide Callex(R) users with access to both the Global Internet-Telephony Directory(R) (GITD) and the Virtual Private LDAP Directory(R).
EleTel's Callex(R) product line includes Callex Web/VPIM, the first stand-alone, PC-based Voice Profile Internet Mail (VPIM) compliant voice and fax messaging solution, making voicemail as flexible as email. Callex users, create and send voice messages from a telephone or browser to any telephone, VPIM-compliant voicemail box, email address, fax machine, or portable Internet device all for free via the Internet. Fax messages may be sent with equal ease and flexibility. Callex may be placed on any web site, and web visitors can leave a voice message for anyone the web site designates.
The Callex platform will utilize NetNumber's "Virtual Private LDAP Directory" as a fully outsourced enterprise LDAP directory to simplify the deployment and support of Callex platforms within both enterprise and service provider environments. In addition, Callex users will be automatically registered in NetNumber's "Global Internet-Telephony Directory" or GITD. The GITD is a global Internet directory service that translates standard telephone numbers into the Internet-Address information required to send voicemail messages and to place telephone calls over the Internet. The GITD will enable Callex users to send voicemail messages to each other for free over the Internet by simply entering the user's telephone number. The VPIM standard combined with the GITD permits the interchange of voicemails between disparate corporate voicemail systems.
"Prior to this partnership, no Internet voicemail service offered universal directory capabilities," said George Krucik, President and CEO of EleTel Inc. "With other services you can only look up their individual customers. That's not an effective model for business to business communications. Partnered with NetNumber, EleTel can offer Callex users the ability to leave a voicemail for anyone with a telephone number, voicemail box, or email address in the Global Internet-Telephony Directory."
"Given NetNumber's high availability (24 hour X 7 days a week) and high capacity services (millions of addresses) - EleTel's customers will enjoy round the clock access to their voice mail and addressing needs from anywhere in the world," said George Krucik.
"EleTel's Callex product line is an ideal application for NetNumber's directory services as Callex provides voice messaging over the Internet with spoken email and free reply features," said Douglas Ranalli, CEO and founder of NetNumber. "We are delighted to partner with EleTel."
Product Availability: Callex Web/VPIM is currently in beta testing and is expected to ship late summer. NetNumber's services are scheduled for full-scale release in July.
