What does Aware need to license from Amati??

It was my impression (possibly mistaken) that all of the
patent protected technology was contained in the ADI chip and
that ADI was the only one required to pay licenses to ensure
ANSI compliance. What aspect of the line code would require paying
license fees for??

Also does anyone have any idea what ADI is paying as a license
fee?? Is it a straight total payment or is it on a per chip sold basis??
