The capacity to change - to mutate, if you will - was written into the founding documents of the nation by the people who produced those documents, who anticipated that future generations might have different purposes and imperatives. If you don't like the changes you are of course welcome to argue your point of view and attempt to influence the political process, as is everyone else.

I'm by no means happy with all of the changes, but I don't expect that my preferences will be given any more credence than anyone else's. I still think that without the designed-in capacity to change without a total overthrow, our form of government would not have survived nearly as long as it has.
