Hey c.horn, long time no talk. I finally have something to post on your thread.

First, I don't have any fear that Gore will win in November. I believe that he will be sacrificed to the political gods intentionally, so that the Dems do not win.

I believe that the dems may have snookered the reps. Going back to the idea of "it's the economy, stupid", it is really about personal wealth.

If the dem government was able to suppress the true information of inflation it would have allowed the stock market bubble to expand further than one might expect. I believe that this coupled with the money supply increases in anticipation of y2k problems (ostensibly) put us in the precarious economic condition that we are currently in.

Here are my predictions:
-The market will somehow manage to avoid a complete breakdown until early next year.
-Gore will get very little enthusiastic support from the democratic party and will only get lip service support from Clinton himself (read sunday's "Doonesbury" for an interesting though along these lines).
-Bush will win and the reps will be left holding the economic nightmare that was left to them by the dems.
-The dems will blame the reps for allowing the economic boom to falter regardless of the fact that it was the reps had nothing to do with the current economic condition.
-The blame will stick and the dems will win the presidency in 2004 based on the fact that reps screwed up the economy.

So there is nothing to worry about, the dems don't want to win this year.
